Right now I am totally flabbergasted!
I am in total shock that I have actually achieved my first sale from my first niche website in 10 days of beginning!
But what is even more shocking is that the website is not even complete!!!
Sorry in advance for all the techie talk but no backlinking, search engine optimization or promotion has been attempted yet which makes me question how my site was found? All I can put it down to was a simple Google search even though Google barely knows the site exists.
*I apologies I can’t reveal the domain name my site. Unfortunately there are mean people on the internet who like to target unveiled domains by spamming trying to get them penalized by Google*
If you have been following along, you might have seen that I have directed my passive income generation focus onto Online Affiliate Marketing – the promoting to merchant products where I receive a commission on every sale.
As the goal is to earn $1k per month by end for February 2014, I had to find something that can be actioned now to start generating income fast. With years of reading and researching how other people are making money online, I was frustrated of not taking action myself. However, from the sea of strategies available on how to make money online, Affiliate Marketing seemed the most simplest, speedy and viable option around.
Most of July was spent watching through my course videos getting my head around it all this Affiliate Marketing stuff and conducting a heap on keyword research, uncovering 2 possibilities from 50 different products.
It wasn’t until August 3rd when we settled again in Siem Reap Cambodia, have I had the opportunity to really sink my teeth into beginning and start building my own ‘fresh off the press’ website.
The Last three weeks have been a slow grind through re-running the training videos and building my first niche along the way.
Last night when building the second page of my site, I was scrounging around my affiliate account to find what images were available from the merchant. And then BOOM!
There it was!
Adjusting my glasses I had to look twice.
‘That doesn’t look right??!!’
‘Is that an actual sale showing in my account?!’
My heart starts beating a little faster… I was skeptical.
‘Maybe the merchant is testing my site?’
But no. It was 100% legit!
Wooooohh Hoooooo!!! Booyah!
I could not frickin’ believe!
An actual sale!!!!
And on a very incomplete website.
And though its only $10 commission, its something. I’m extremely grateful for the small stuff. That $10 has change my life… it is possible to make money online!
However, it called for further investigation. Fortunately there is a way I can track how it happened and discovered that the picture I created in the sidebar that included a $5 off discount is what was clicked!
Why am I telling you this? Its definitely not about bragging rights that I have actually got a sale. I’m not into that crap. Its more than that. Its about celebrating the fact that it is possible to create a passive income online even if your feel you don’t know what you are doing or what you create is far from perfect.
Whether the win justifies going from Wantrepreneur to Entrepreneur is way too early at this stage. Only time will tell if the wins will continue and be maintained.
If I can encourage you with anything, what I’ve learnt so far is that you don’t have to be smart, techie or be good at sales. (although this helps)
Its all about the work…
You can have all the skills you want but if you’re not willing to hustle and smash at it daily, its all wasted.
If you are wanting to create a little cash on the side or build something to sustain your desired lifestyle, its all about taking imperfect action and putting in those hard yards (especially in the beginning) to achieve what you want out of life.
I hope this has been an encouragement for you…
Has there been any wins for you lately? What are you working on? I love to hear about it.
